Sweet home chicago
So it would appear I failed to blog on a daily basis ala last years HostingCon. Primarily I blame the ‘W Lakeshore’ hotel we stayed in. There was a distinct lack of free WiFi and some extortionate daily fee for a wired DSL connection in the room. To be fair there was free WiFi in their lobby area, but traipsing to the lobby each night to blog seemed a poor move. At least it did at 2am each night.
Anyway, the trip was very enjoyable and most importantly productive. We formalised two ideas for the company that we have been musing for some time now. We should be getting both of these into the works in the coming weeks. Both have the ultimate aim of ramping up customers and revenue.
Our meal at Alinea was as expected, surreal and first rate. I will be sure to post a full review (with murky pictures) in the next few days. Suffice to say, writing a review of a meal with 24 courses takes a little bit of time and effort.
After four days in Chicago, Dan came back to SLC to stay with me and Wen for a little under a week. We spent a few days in Wendover and Dan got to marvel at the wonders of super cheap gambling and single deck 3:2 blackjack. Fairly bargainous when all is said and done. We dined at a few SLC restaurants and BBQ’ed some food at home. A little bowling, pool and a night or two in the Bongo and Dan was on his way back to England.
Speaking of bowling my average has continued to rise steadily over the weeks. I now have a personal high score of 158 and am regularly getting in the 140’s. The bowling league I joined a few months back is coming to an end in two weeks time. My team (me and my bowling partner Shane) is presently ranked number one. With only 6 more games left we are biting our nails. It would be bizarre indeed if we were to win. I believe the first place price is a couple of hundred dollars.
I have actually been bitten by the bowling bug the past few weeks. Presently I am playing 2-3 times a week and am already planning on joining a new longer, more advanced league for the winter months. I will leave tales of me looking at buying my own ball for future posts.
